| Lizzie didn't like the farm life in Kentucky without the help of slaves, so a few years before WWI George and Lizzie left the farm and moved to Independence, MO. She suffered from allergies so the couple moved to Denver CO in 1918. One year later George died at the age of 86. He was buried in the family lot in Lee's Summit Cemetery. She returned to Jackson Co. MO after the death of her husband where she spent the remainder of her life in the Home for Confederate Soldiers and their widows at Higginsville, MO. |
